In conjunction with the visit by Mr Assem Regab, Chairman, General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) to Singapore, the Singapore Business Federation (SBF) held a dialogue session for Mr Regab and his Egyptian business delegates to meet up with Singapore businessmen to discuss and promote the investment opportunities in the Special Economic Zones (SEZ) located in the Gulf of Suez-ElsSokhna.
The dialogue session was moderated by Mr Shabbir Hassanbhai, Vice Chairman of SBF-MEBG and included the participation of important Egyptian business delegates such as His Excellency Mohamed Elzorkany, Ambassador of the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Singapore, Mr Ahmed Amin, Deputy Chairman of SEZone, Mr Tawfik Adly, Managing Director of Main Development Company (MDC), Mr José M. Cerón, Project Lead from Technical Assistance for Policy Reform II and Mr Ahmed Zoheir, Far East Region Leader Region Leader of GAFI.
The 22 participants at the dialogue session mainly comprised of Singapore businessmen from the industrial park development companies and utilities companies. Other interested businessmen at the session included those represented from the Oil & Gas and ICT industries. The Singapore businessmen were duly briefed on the updates of the latest developments, timeline and objective of the project in the Special Economic Zones (SEZ) located in the Gulf of Suez-ElsSokhna. Mr Ragab and his Egyptian delegates assisted to clarify many queries posed by the attendees on investing in the SEZ project and in Egypt to create better understanding on the opportunities in the project and in the country.
Apart from the dialogue session, SBF also organized and facilitated 3 one-to-one meetings for the Egyptian delegation during their stay, with Singapore industry park developers and consultants to provide a constructive platform for them to establish direct and useful contacts with potential partners for the SEZ project. The 3 company meetings were held with SembCorp Parks Management Pte Ltd, Jurong Consultant and Ascendas Pte Ltd.
