In conjunction with the visit by Mr. Assem Ragab, Chairman of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) of Egypt and his delegation to Singapore and China, Singapore Business Federation (SBF) organized and facilitated a 2 days business programme with one-to-one meetings for them during their stay. This is his second visit to Singapore and his meeting included meeting up with various government agencies and Singapore companies. It provided a constructive platform for them to establish direct and useful contacts as well as follow-up with potential partners for their SEZ clusters project. We have included in their programme visits to Ascendas Science Park and Jurong Island gallery at the Jurong Summit. SBF has earlier signed an MOU with GAFI during the visit of Minster Mohieldin last year.

The Singapore businessmen were duly briefed on the updates of the latest developments, timeline and objective of the project in the Special Economic Zones (SEZ) including sectors in Transportation and Logistics, Port, Retails, Utilities, Food Processing, Mining, Quarrying and Building Materials, Pharmaceutical, Textiles, Agricultural, Health, Higher Education, Petrochemical and ICT. Mr. Ragab has also in particularly extend invitation to SBF to organize a business mission with interested participants keen to partake in the SEZ projects and they would very much delighted to assist in business matching with local partnership and doing up the business programme.

In conclusion, the various meeting session has provided a good platform for SBF to facilitate our Singaporean companies to jumpstart and establish first hand contact with GAFI to find out more on the business opportunities available in Egypt and further follow-up with them.
